Manchester City star Bernardo Silva advised that Real Madrid shouldn’t be overlooked despite his side’s strong position in the Champions League last-16 tie.

The Premier League giants stunned Madrid 2-1 at the Santiago Bernabeu within the first leg of their matchup in February.

In the midst of the coronavirus pandemic, officials are said to be hoping on Champions League return probably in August.

Despite City’s good position in the Champion’s league, Silva claimed he is wary of Madrid, who have won three out of the four past Champions League cups.

“You can’t overlook any, not even Madrid that have won 13 European Cups,” the midfielder told AS.

“In this competition, no club’s players have the experience that Madrid’s players have , so lets not presume that we’ve already beaten them.”

Silva added: “I ‘m being realistic. When you play a team like Madrid, winning or losing is not ever certain. We’ve seen tons of ties within the previous couple of years get rotated . Look at Barca last year, beating Liverpool 3-0 then losing 4-0. You never know.

“It’s an honest result and we’re preparing hard to travel through to the quarter-finals. It would be a tough match and we’ll try all we could to play well as as to maintain our position.”

Having won the past two Premier League titles amid numerous other domestic honours, City are eyeing a primary Champions League crown.

Silva said Pep Guardiola’s men were wanting to claim the Champions League for the primary time.

“In the last three years we’ve won virtually everything in England. We were able to win all four English titles last season. This year, we’ve won the Super Cup and the League Cup, we’re still in the FA Cup and battling to win win that as well,” he said.

“But the Champions League is what every one of my team members and Pep want to win. We know it is a tough league, but we’ll fight to win it.”
