Hector Bellerin is grateful to Arsenal head coach Mikel Arteta for being a source of inspiration to him when they were Gunners team-mates, with the right-back now embracing the model mantle himself.

Despite only being 25, Bellerin is already one among the foremost experienced players within the Arsenal squad and among their longest serving.

The Spaniard signed for Arsenal in 2011 from Barcelona and has been round the senior squad since 2013, his growing influence and responsibility reflected by being made vice-captain in October last year.

Bellerin is renowned for his passion for fashion and has never appeared shy about expressing that side of himself, despite playing in an age when footballers are often heavily criticised for his or her social media activity or supposedly flaunting a lavish lifestyle.

But Bellerin feels young players should be allowed to be who they’re , and hopes to impress that and other nuggets of recommendation on subsequent generation at Arsenal, even as Arteta did for him.

“I think it’s quite crucial to assist young players to bring out the best from them , it is often hard coming into a room once you have senior players questioning why you’re doing something or wearing something, but it is so important that subsequent generation are faithful themselves,” he told Football London. “If I can help them achieve their goal, then I’ll be very happy to do so.

“I was so fortunate to have my family around me and my ally, he’s someone I had known right from the onset. He was actually the one that advised me about the importance of investments.

“From the football side, Mikel Arteta used to give me financial advice and even life advice when he was a player at arsenal.

“Even then he exhibited leadership qualities that prepared him into becoming a manager.

“I think I am so lucky that everybody that I have had in contact with have contributed in one way or the other to my life.

“Sincerely, If you do keep friends that are often honest with you, then you will not ever make a positive impact as an individual. I am very lucky with the people I had around me and it means a lot to me to possess young players looking up to me in the same manner.”
